1973 Honda XL175K0 Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project Manufacturer: Honda Model: XL175K0 Year: 1973 Engine No: XL175E-1003770 Frame No: XL175-1003416 Colour: Mars Orange Mileage: 5123 Capacity: 173cc Starting at: £1199.99 Stock No: 88613 This rare and much sought after Tax & MOT exempt 1st edition 1973 Honda XL175K0 Enduro has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 5123 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – Mirrors, indicators, silencer & kick starter rubber being the most obvious. It has stood a while so the battery is flat, paintwork is slightly faded, carburettor is stuck & shockers aren’t damping. Sadly the front wheel rim has a dent in it. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.........This is the actual bike you are bidding on – Not library pictures from 47 years ago & it is every bit as nice as it looks here.....A true time warp machine!. The wheels are essentially straight with clean chrome rims, good hubs & brake plates. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome & clean alloy. Mudguards are both solid. Tail light assy is non standard but looks ok. Instruments look great. Paintwork is slightly faded but solid, fuel tank is useably clean inside and has just minor dents/marks & scratches in the original paint. Seat base is in good condition throughout. The engine is cosmetically clean, it turns over nicely off the kick starter – sounds/feels great & has compression - We have had it firing/running on easystart spray but the fuel system & carb will need attention. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated. We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of Title but we will provide proof that VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.(This can take upto 4 weeks) Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles over 40 years old are MOT exempt) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. To get a recognised dating letter apply in writing to Honda Motorcycle Operations at the following address. Year of Manufacture, Honda (UK),Cain Road, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 1HL The following information for the bike should quoted, Model, VIN, Engine number. Additionally you should include your contact details (telephone number and email). There is administration fee of £30 (25 + VAT) which can be paid by cheque or postal order payable to Honda (UK). If information needs to be acquired from Japan the the "Proof of year of manufacture" letter can take upto 6 weeks to arrive. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
