Auction for a 1990 KX500, I bought this bike about 20 years ago as a restoration project, engine in bits, parts missing etc, with the intention of returning it to its former glory, The engine was rebuilt, new gaskets, seals, crank bearings, pistons kit, barrel re-plated and various other engine parts that were missing. New rear tyre, front and rear brake pads, plastics and variously other parts that where missing. The bike was reassembled, ridden for a bit, engine was broken in, then plans changed, went travelling, started a family.So the bike has stood in the garage for nearly 20 years, I’ve recently had it running, cleaned the carb out, fresh fuel, new plug and it fired up.The bike runs and rides, the overall condition of the bike is ok, it’s showing age related wear, there’s a weld on the frame and the exhaust, The front brake doesn’t work, master cylinder seized, the performance isn’t great, running way too rich, few minor nut and bolts missing here and there, it wouldn’t take too much to to get it to a rideable condition, or for a complete restoration project.
