Description
Its an interesting bike is the 660cc single cylinder MT-03; with its 35KW/45BHP power (and thus A2 licence compliant without any restrictor requirement) and 41ft/lb torque outputs, fairly lowish seat height of 805mm, coupled with a lightweight mass (without fuel/oils. etc) of 175Kg. Sharing a lot of historical development along with the legendary XT660Z Tenere and the XT660R, it offers an opportunity for something a bit different to the look-alike multi-cylinder jobs which tend to predominate the bike market these days. OK, so its not that fast in terms of maximum speed (tests suggest a maximum of 100mph or thereabouts), but it's low down acceleration and light handling make it fun to ride. And with a 15 litre fuel tank and a tested average fuel consumption of 56mpg (about 185miles per tankfill), along with a comfortable seat and riding position, it's good for fairly lengthy trips. Me and my youngest son bought this one between us (he being the registered keeper) in June 2017, it having last changed hands in June 2009, for the purposes of it being a 'Fun' summer bike for him, as an alternative to his ever faithfull, but not very exciting, Triumph Sprint 995i ST which would then be a winter bike (heated grips/fairing, etc), and a bit of a treat for me (which never materialised due to a rather sudden onset of chronic arthritis) on sunny days in future years. However, given a significant change of personal circumstances for him just after our purchase, and my arthritis, things did not go to plan and basically it has remained in his bike shed, relatively unused (about 1000miles in 3 years) since then. Personally, I would like to keep it, give it a clean and polish now and then, and just admire it for the excellent bit of design and engineering that it is. But, needs must (and I've been out-voted by my wife) and it has to go. So, it is/has: 2 regular keys, plus the red code re-registering key; Yamaha Owners Handbook and Service Documents holder which includes: Owners Manual, Pre-delivery Inspection Certificate (20-08-2007), Yamaha Warranty Certificate (22-08-2007), 1st Service check-sheet (25-09-2007), 2K Service receipt (02-06-2017), V5C document, MoT Certificates/receipts/info' for: 03-09-2012 1091 miles, 05-09-2013 1137 miles, 12-06-2015 1204 miles, 01-06 2017 2261 miles, 19-06-2018 2287 miles, 04-07-2019 2865 miles. The next MoT, due to 6 month extension rule changes, is now due on 03-01-2021. The bike has been Data-tagged from new and all the documentation and marker kit is present. Given that neither me nor my son had envisaged the bike being used on a very regular basis, we set up the connection, along with a new battery, for an Oxford Oximiser 600 trickle-charger and this is included in the sale. It is in really outstanding condition for its age, has obviously been garaged and well looked-after from new. You are more than welcome to come and have a look, or get a professional assessment done, and if you want to buy it and can find anything not up to the description as given then I will either amend that or refund the cost of doing so. The location is in Stoke-on-Trent, a short distance from Exit 15 on M6. Payment is preferred by either bank transfer or previously cleared personal cheque.
