Thanks for looking at my auction for my DR 500. I think the bike is a 1983 model. This bike is really tidy for its age and represents a chance for someone to own an air cooled twin shock trail bike without the £5k price tag of an xt. The bike is badged as a DR but from research it seems as though both the DR500 abd SP500 were pretty much the same. It starts second or third kick and runs great. It has marzochii rear shocks but these are leaking oil. These could be refurbished or alternatively new shocks are available on here for £70 or so. One side panel is missing unfortunately, there is a new battery but it needs filling with battery acid. Gold takasago rims front and rear in great condition. Hubs in great condition. Cush drive for road work. Acerbis oversized tank to add range. The rear rack has been welded as shown in a pic. Ideally it would be ground flat and then powder coated. The exhaust is rusty. I could have painted it but wanted to show it as genuine. The rust on the pipe and silencer is superficial, both are solid and sound with no holes or other. This bike is really solid and well made. I bought it off my brother with a view to building a 1980’s Dakar bike but lack of time has lead to a rethink. My brother lost the v5 so I’m in the process of re applying for one. It might not be present at point of sale but I will provide a full receipt of sale and forward the v5 once in receipt. Have a look at the pictures, they give a good representation of the condition. These are a rare find, much rarer than the xt and the build quality is just as good. Cash on collection. Buyer collects. No paypal please. No warranty implied or given.
