1986 Honda vt 1100 shadow, first registered in UK 04/02/2000Fast becoming a classic bikeGood pointsA big, nice and comfy cruiserGood tyres, runs smooth, shaft drive,Bad pointsThe electric fan wasnt coming on after reaching temperature on the half way temperate gauge, I've put on a manual switch to the electric fan but the other day I found that one of the temperature wires to the thermal switch was loose so it might of been that. I havnt rode the bike to see if the fan is automatically kicking in now or not. I started her up but the bike takes about 10- 12 miles of riding before reaching mid way on the temperature gauge and I didn't want to annoy my neighbours by having it ticking over in the garden for over half an hour because she is quite loud, but apart from that she starts up fine. It would be an easy fix anyway. The fuel gauge doesnt work but you can set the trip meter to know how many miles she's done before filling her back up. Ive owned the bike just over a year and the owner before myself owned the bike from new . I Have all the service history and receipts ,paperwork and mot's from new until now. V5 present . Workshop manual.I've got the original back rest , windshield and original handle bars and apart from the handle bars on her now the rest of the bike is standard. I was going to build a bobber from the bike but because it's such a classic I couldnt bring myself to butcher it and it would be worth more money left standard.I'm sure that after those couple of little jobs are sorted she will be a great bike for someone. Mot expired in March 2020. And because of the Mot stations closing due to the lockdown I cancelled my insurance and tax in March so I cant ride her to go and get the MOT now.A little bit of TLC and she will be a great bike again. So if you buy it I will deduct for the price of a new thermal switch just incase.
