1988 Suzuki GSXR400 GK73A Slingshot Unregistered JAP Import Classic Beam Frame Manufacturer: Suzuki Model: GSXR400 Year: 1988 Engine No: K707-108682 Frame No: GK73A-107508 Colour: Red and Silver Mileage: 31481 KM Capacity: 398cc Starting at: £1499.99 Stock No: 88687 This 1988 Suzuki GK73A GSXR400 has recently been imported from Japan where it has spent all its life. This and the fact it's only showing 31481km (20000 miles) and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – Front brake lever, both bar end weights & entire l/h footrest & gear lever assy being the most obvious. It has stood a while so the battery is flat, paintwork is faded & lacquer is lifting. Sadly the bike has had a tumble which has resulted in the top fairing, front mudguard, l/h faring middle & seat side panels being damaged. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.........The wheels look straight & clean with nice looking discs & calipers. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & indicators. Instruments & switches look good. Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. Paintwork is slightly faded but solid, fuel tank is squeaky clean inside and has just minor dents/marks & scratches in the original paint. Exhausts are original & solid. Seats are in good condition but rear is scuffed/torn on the r/h corner. Shock absorber is damping fine. The engine we have had firing/running on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention. (Vehicles over 40 years old are MOT exempt) You need proof of the year of manufacture in writing. Owners clubs and associations can help with this. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
