1979 Suzuki GS1000 Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project Manufacturer: Suzuki Model: GS1000 Year: 1979 Engine No: GS1000-129407 Frame No: GS1000-520073 Colour: Black Mileage: 25737 Capacity: 997cc Starting at: £1199.99 Stock No: 88577 This big old 1980 Suzuki GS1000 has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike has a few parts missing, carbs, all the airbox, fuel cap and side panels being the most obvious. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS......... The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy, good discs, calipers and a working front brake. Forks & yokes look straight but some pitting is apparent. Tail light assy is good as is the headlight. The clocks look okay. The switches look fundementally okay and most of the functionality is intact. Paintwork is very dull, fuel tank is solid with no major dents but is grotty inside. The original seat base is in good condition. Chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are solid, but the front is bashed. The RC Performance Exhaust branded exhaust is solid. The engine is cosmetically clean & even without carbs fitted we have had it firing/running on easystart spray. If you are ready for a new project & have been looking for a classic Suzuki GS1000 to restore then look no further – THIS ONE COULD BE YOURS!!! We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of Title and we will provide proof that VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.(This can take upto 4 weeks) Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles over 40 years old are MOT exempt) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. Suzuki UK also offer this service but apparently do not have records for anything older than 40 years old. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number. Spares you may need Our used spares dept may carry items you need for this project, give them a call on 01782 862200, if parts are available they will be happy to list them on EBay so you can purchase.
