Description

Here's the story. I bought this off ebay (from a bloke in Lynmouth...yes Devon....from Westcliff on Sea) (potty) thinking that the repair to the crankshaft oil seal would be a walk in the park. This American bloke on You tube assured me how easy it would be. But he was working on a single cylender and this is a twin so it's got a central oil seal!! Undaunted I stripped the engine and sent it the relevant parts off for £307 worth of machining (see receipts). Chuffed with myself when it started, I had it on the road in 2014/15. During 2015 it stopped again with what very much looked like the same problem. Not to be swayed off course by mere trifles, I had in the meantime found another engine from a GT200. This one's got 5 gears...what a result. When I put it in the bike it started but rattled a lot...like bad piston slap. It's been sitting under a cover for the last 5 years until the weekend just passed. My mother never had a quitter so I stripped it down again and fitted the re bored cylinder head and pistons off the SB200 unit to the GT 200 unit. It starts up...in fact on the second prod of the kick starter...but it sounds like a bag of spanners and I think there's probably something wrong with the clutch because even after adjustment it didn't disengage. When I had it on the road I splashed out on two new tyres, a new chain and a new battery which I tried to charge up again but alas appears unwilling to co-operate...but on the bright side if you've got a wobbly table anywhere you could put it under one leg. If you got this bike running properly you'd definitely get looks from other motor cyclists when out on the road. I used to but for all the wrong reasons. She's no beauty queen but she's all there. I gonna let my mum down and give up so it's looking for a new home. It's time to socially distance myself from it but by a lot more than 2M. I would suggest it would be a tad rash to get involved unless you were suitably committed. No reserve, it's got to go. Other engine included in sale.
