Description
I have loved riding this great bike. I bought it from a friend of my brother , who lives in Canada. It had been given a very good engine rebuild , so good it hardly leaks and uses very little oil...( no really!!).On bringing it over here the bike frame was repainted, again to a good standard. This bike has been ridden by me, i'm afraid, to some this may have ruined it, as it has parts that will have been worn by use! I have no doubt that some of you purists out there have also noticed it has been further ruined by putting on a functioning brake on the front, a very expensive TLS brake from the 1968 onwards model. I put a new Reynolds chain on 300 miles ago.Again, i regret it has the slightly later more powerful alternator fitted, sadly it means the lights actually work!Together with electronic ignition, that completes the modifications.BAD BITS.I know the tank paint does not follow the exact Triumph pattern, and there is a flaw in the paint near the filler cap. Additionally this bike came with no rev counter (they were an optional extra). This still has a 60's speedo, but the needle has broken off, you can see it still works but the needle will need replacing.BEST BITS.Riding this bike is a joy, the engine pulls as if new and the gears all work fine. I believe this is the year Triumph fitted the full spec Bonneville engine for the first time. With a single carb there is no inbalance in the fuelling and its crisp and powerful for its age. Oil has been changed religously and its never been ridden on journeys of less than 20 miles. This bike is uk registered , has all the import papers and Owners club certificate of verification.Tax and MOT exempt, costs £100.00 a year to insure if you are old like me.This bike has great compression do not bid if you have dodgy knees, hips or ankles.I will not sell this abroad. Please do not bother mithering me over screw thread pitches and other minutiae.(i've sold an old bike before ). I do not need the cash desperately and will not reply to insane offers "doing me a favour guv".Age has altered my personal circumstances and i need the space.I will of course reply to sensible enquiriesIt is my fervent hope that this bike goes to someone who will use it, wear out and replace parts and keep the classic bike industry going in the UK.Bid to buy please. I need the bike collecting ASAP after sale, cash on collection, not paypal please. Or cheque is acceptable, Bike will not be removed before payment cleared.
