Description
I have owned this bike since January 2018 and spent quite a lot on it to bring the cycle parts up to scratch, but I don't get the opportunity to ride much now. It’s a great fun bike, about 20 kg lighter than a standard V-Strom. Other bikers have described it as a hooligan bike and a beast! It does encourage spirited riding but it’s very easy to ride, with bags of torque throughout the rev range and a smooth throttle response. In its early life it wore two different personalised number plates before settling on its current one. It was the subject of a Cat C insurance claim (i.e. cosmetic damage not worth repairing at Suzuki prices) under a former owner, hence it’s current appearance. It has been through several MoTs since then, with more than one tester, and I had no problem insuring it. Due to winter lay-up and then lockdown, I’ve only done 169 miles since the last MoT. The fuel in the tank contains stabiliser and it started and ran perfectly today for a farewell ride. This is not a project, it's ready to ride. I have set the reserve at a sensible level. It's cheaper than any other running V-Strom you are likely to find, and probably more fun! You are welcome to view the bike, observing appropriate social distancing - using a face mask would be appreciated and I will do the same. Any questions, please ask. I am not looking for swaps or silly offers - thanks. Cash on collection preferred, buyer to collect or arrange colection. New parts fitted last year Avon Trailrider tyres - covered less than 600 miles EBC discs and pads front and rear, fresh brake fluid Rear brake caliper and master cylinder rebuilt with new seals Fork stanchions, seals and bushes (due to pitted chrome and a damaged top nut thread in one stanchion). DID chain, JT front & rear sprockets, new sprocket carrier bearing. Features Braided steel brake lines front and rear LED indicators – rear ones are integrated with LED tail light and did pass an MoT– with correct flasher relay, not resistors. Shad seat fitted with standard Suzuki catch, storage underneath for disc lock etc. This seat has good quality foam which is surprisingly comfortable even though it’s slimline. It's a bit lower than the standard seat. Oxford luggage rack – nearly new top box to take single full face helmet is available separately. Leo Vince end can with removable baffles, sounds good even with baffles in. Fuel injection gives instant starting and great running with or without end can baffles. Original Suzuki clocks. Adjustable light weight levers. Pillion pegs could be fitted (mounting brackets are there, but no pegs). Free extras – nearly new Suzuki seat from later model which does fit (slightly off-centre), straight alloy handlebars (I put the current bars on for comfort), pair of indicators matching front ones. Things to note Fuel tank is standard V-Strom without the plastics, which I have resprayed in satin black as it was a bit scruffy. Not a perfect finish but looks right with the style of bike, I think. Tank is easily removed for respray if desired. What might look like large dents are part of the original tank shape. Front mudguard has a repaired crack at the back, and a blemish in the carbon fibre look at the front. Frame paint has worn off in places but it's alloy so doesn't rust. Subframe repainted. Seat cover has a few marks and small tears at the sides but not about to fall apart. Brake pedal and exhaust collector scuffed from a minor drop (me). Time clock re-set does not work, but it can be set to 1.00 by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery (a common fault apparently). The trip select/reset does work. If the engine is not started within a few seconds of the ignition being switched on, a fault code is displayed. This is due to a small voltage drop between the gear position sender and ECU, which does not affect the running and is reset when the bike is restarted. I’ve tried cleaning the connectors but not been able to fix it. There is no gear position display fitted anyway, so it's more of a niggle than a problem. Just start the bike straight away, and no error code. Please study the photos as there may be minor things I have forgotten to mention. Extras available I have the following which I may be interested in selling with the bike: Haynes manual for DL650 / SV650 Nearly new Oxford top box to take single full face helmet Dealer mode diagnostic switch Suzuki centre stand
