Description

Moto Guzzi Convert in overall very nice condition except the frame would benefit from a refurbishment. However there is a issue with quite possibly the engine so please read carefully. I have been asked to put this up for sale by the owner who doesn't use Ebay. The current owner bought the bike approx 6 months ago heard it running and took it home rode it up and down his street a few times and then went abroad for a period of time. He was back in the country a short while before the lockdown when at some point he rode the bike up and down a few times again then left it running on the centre stand while he opened up the garage etc when the bike suddenly stopped. Not riding it again he thought nothing of it and put the bike away. He brought the bike over to me in his van as he just wanted the valve clearances checked etc. Now here's where it gets interesting in that I struggled to turn the engine over by hand, moved it a little and then no more. My concern is that living on a very steep road with the bike bike facing upwards that it's a possibility the engine was starved of oil especially as the engine has a sump extension giving more room for the oil to collect away from the pick up point - there also wasn't quite the required amount which makes the theory even more of a possibility or maybe it's some other reason? I have suggested what it might cost to strip the bike apart and also if engine work needs to be done etc and while he will go ahead with the work should the bike not sell on here he is also prepared to cut his losses and get some of his purchase price back hence this listing. As can be seen by the pics the bike is generally in really very nice condition and if the frame was redone whilst the bike was apart then it could be just that little bit better. The mileage has under 10,000 showing on the clock and the general condition suggests this could be correct. I believe that he bought it from a elderly gentleman but that originally it came from South Africa. I am listing at his minimum required selling price and we think that the best potential buyer is somebody who is able to do any work themselves which still could make it a excellent buy for somebody or maybe a buyer has a standard engine, manual gearbox and drivebox sitting in their garage just waiting for such a project. Any questions please ask although I think the description/pictures pretty much says it all.Collection only or as the owner has a van he might be willing to deliver - at cost - within a certain distance. The V5 states it's a 1979 bike but it might well be earlier as depends what's on the V plate if it's possible to see it properly behind headlamp / screen etc. First registered in the UK in 2007 THE VIN PLATE STATES IT'S A 1977 BIKE.
