Description

I have owned this bike for donkey's years and unfortunately it's just not getting used so have reluctantly decided to 'let it go...'Hopefully it will go to an enthusiast who will get much use and pleasure from it :) OK, so what you see is a hybrid Sherpa - a 350 engine in a (very late) 250 frame. Not pristine by any means but pretty good for a 40 year old bike!It starts and runs very well. Smokes like a proper 2-stroke and the clutch drags slightly from cold. All comes good as the engine warms up.The (original) plastic petrol tank has suffered cosmetically from the dreaded petrol vapour porosity syndrome - as all these tanks did eventually but is structurally sound i.e. no leakage.Has Spanish Amal carb. and Amal twistgrip. Decent 'fixtures & fittings' all round, basically.Wants a new twistgrip rubber due to perishing. Same applies to the kill-switch button. The side-stand mount has been removed from the swingarm (not guilty!).All in all a great bike thats good-to-go for plodding around in a wood, quarry or whevever. Wouldn't take much to take it the next level of 'niceness' if that was your goal :)Have a good look at the 'photos of course and form your own opinion from what you see and what I've described above. Have tried to tell it like it is, I hope you'll agree. Many thanks for looking and if you do decide to get involved I wish you the very best of luck. No buy-it-now element and no absolute figure in my head of what the bike is worth - simply relying on the market to find its own level.A bit more about the spec. for anyone who's wondering...Amal carb. is a Mk.2 (screw-top).Rims are Akront.Rear shocks are Marzocchi (bit scruffy but mechanically sound). Some time ago I replaced both mudguards, the exhaust, the brake/clutch levers, both side panels (one of the originals was missing), seat cover, clutch springs & caps, the drive chain, chain slippers/tensioner-pad, drive sprocket (12T) & the chainwheel/rear sprocket (48T). All these items courtesy of Dave Renham (inmotiontrials.co.uk). All items still in excellent condition. Lots of cap-head screws - many of them stainless - and nyloc nuts, courtesy of yours truly. Think most of the above is 'observable', if you zoom-in on the photo's.As mentioned in the original listing the bike is not pristine but it starts well, goes through the gears as it should and stops on the brakes when required. What's not to like... :)Any questions, still feel free to ask away. Thanks for looking!
