1971 BMW R60/5 Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project Manufacturer: BMW Model: R60/5 Year: 1971 Engine No: 2934029 Frame No: 29340290 Colour: Black Mileage: 33323 Capacity: 599cc Starting at: £999.99 Stock No: 88879 This rare and desireable 1971 BMW R60/5 has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike has few parts missing, but there are no front indicators. A lot of parts are showing their age, but aren't we all? BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS......... The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy rims but the spokes are showing a few signes of rust. The rear brake works. The forks and yokes look straight. The tail light assy is good as is the headlight. The clocks look fundementally intact but would benefit from some attention. The switches look wierd but appear to work. The carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. The paintwork is faded but solid, fuel tank is clean inside. The seat base is rusty and showing signs of rot but is not buggered. The two rear indicators are tidy. Both mud guards are solid. The standard style exhaust is solid but the downpipes are rusty. The engine is cosmetically clean, and cranks over nicely on the unusual kickstart. We have had it firing/running & revving on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention. If you are ready for a new project and have been looking for a classic early Boxer to restore then look no further – THIS ONE COULD BE YOURS!!! The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated. BUT, for bikes over 40 years old, if you want us to do it all for you - Inc a number plate, we charge just £100 to cover our admin costs. THIS VEHICLE COMES WITH THE US CERTIFICATE OF TITLE AND WE WILL PROVIDE PROOF THAT THE VAT & DUTY IS PAID ON THE NOVA SYSTEM.(This can take upto 4 weeks). Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles under 40 years old only) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. The American Title is a recognised document for this purpose. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
