1979 Yamaha XS1100 Special Unregistered US Import Very Clean Running Classic Manufacturer: Yamaha Model: XS1100 Special Year: 1979 Engine No: 3H3-009595 Frame No: 3H3-009595 Colour: Black Mileage: 29536 Capacity: 1101cc Starting at: £99.99 Stock No: 88927 This big old 1979 Yamaha XS1100 Special has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic project is the bike, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike is very clean and complete. It even has the emergency kickstart secured with the original wing nut. The unusually slender Vetter Quick Silver Night Stalker Fairing is in nice order but will need the screen fastening on properly. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS......... The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy, good discs, calipers and working brakes. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome. The tail light assy is good as is the headlight. The clocks with the unusual 160mph speedo are tidy. The switches are clean and tidy and operate smoothly. The carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. The paintwork is bright, and the fuel tank is squeaky clean inside. The seat looks to be in good condition throughout, though it may have been recovered. The indicators are tidy, with the exception of one cracked lens. Both mud guards are bright and solid. The standard exhaust is bright and solid, but the down pipes are a bit discoloured. The engine is cosmetically clean. We have had it firing/running & revving using a boost battery, but the fuel system & carbs may need attention. If you are ready for a new toy and have been looking for a classic XS1100 Shaft to fettle then look no further – THIS ONE COULD BE YOURS!!! We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of Title but we will provide proof that VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.(This can take upto 4 weeks) Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles over 40 years old are MOT exempt) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. Phone Yamaha UK customer services on 01932 358000 with the Model, frame & engine Numbers for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
