1981 Suzuki GS650GL Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project Manufacturer: Suzuki Model: GS650GL Year: 1981 Engine No: GS650G-102571 Frame No: JS1GP71L4B2101197 Colour: Black Mileage: 17722 Capacity: 673cc Starting at: £999.99 Stock No: 88921 This very clean 1981 Suzuki GS650GL shaft drive factory custom has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 17722 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike looks to be complete. It has a few after market parts – Hideous rack & topbox & engine bars being the most obvious. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.........The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy & good brakes. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome & clean alloy. Mudguards are both solid & rear is very tidy. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look great. Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. Paintwork is solid, fuel tank is squeaky clean inside and has just minor dents/marks & scratches in the original paint. Exhausts are original & solid. Seat is in very good condition throughout. Indicators are no matching but are tidy. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated. BUT, for bikes over 40 years old, if you want us to do it all for you - Inc a number plate, we charge just £100 to cover our admin costs. THIS VEHICLE COMES WITH THE US CERTIFICATE OF TITLE AND WE WILL PROVIDE PROOF THAT THE VAT & DUTY IS PAID ON THE NOVA SYSTEM.(This can take upto 4 weeks). Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles under 40 years old only) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. The American Title is a recognised document for this purpose. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
