1978 Yamaha XS650SE Special Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Manufacturer: Yamaha Model: XS650SE Special Year: 1978 Engine No: 2F0-108110 Frame No: 2F0-108110 Colour: Blue Mileage: 16497 Capacity: 653cc Starting at: £1499.99 Stock No: 88878 This much sought after Tax & MOT exempt 1978 Yamaha XS650SE Special has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 16497 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – L/h mirror & r/h front foot peg being the most obvious. It has stood a while so the battery is flat, tyres & seat cover are perished, master cylinders aren't working, Silencers are holed & with the exception of the forks all the chrome is pitted. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.........The wheels are straight with reasonable alloy rims. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguards are both solid. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look ok. Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. Paintwork is solid, fuel tank is squeaky clean inside and has just minor dents/marks & scratches in the original paint. Seat base is in reasonably good condition throughout. The engine is cosmetically quite clean, it turns over nicely off the kick starter – sounds/feels great & has compression BUT BEST OF ALL when we hooked it up to a good battery it fires, starts, runs & revs. This is only a very brief description….If you are placing a bid reliant on parts that can’t be seen in the pictures being there and/or in serviceable condition or require any further information or more pictures please give us a call or message us. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated. BUT, for bikes over 40 years old, if you want us to do it all for you - Inc a number plate, we charge just £100 to cover our admin costs. THIS VEHICLE COMES WITH THE US CERTIFICATE OF TITLE AND WE WILL PROVIDE PROOF THAT THE VAT & DUTY IS PAID ON THE NOVA SYSTEM.(This can take upto 4 weeks). Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles under 40 years old only) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. The American Title is a recognised document for this purpose. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
