A not to be missed opportunity to acquire this ultra-rare BMW R65LS. BMW approached designer Hans Muth to create this range of bikes. This particular bike is one of only 20 in the UK (as per howmanyleft.co.uk) that is still licensed for the road. Given that most classic bikes end up being modified/turned into a cafe racer/scrambler variant, this is a rare opportunity to buy an original and unmolested version. It comes with the original Krauser panniers which in themselves sell for a lot online. This particular machine has come from a collection. It’s an unrestored, original condition bike showing an ultra low 12k miles. This is a running, riding bike that starts on the button and has no knocks, bangs, smoke etc. There are marks on the bike as expected for it’s age. There is a small dent in the petrol tank near the filler cap and a slight bit of pain missing on the rear grab handle where the panniers have rubbed. There is the odd scuff and scratch here and there as to be expected. I’m being overly picky here because I would rate the condition as 9/10 with 10 being the condition it came out of the factory in. The history to this bike is that it was imported into the UK in 2004 from California. It has sat ever since in a collection until summer 2019 when the owner decided to register it for the road. It went through a recondition and MOT but as you will see from the mileage stated on the MOT, it has not moved at all since. It had brand new Continental tyres put on for the MOT last year which have not been used. All paperwork and documentation is present to back up this history. For the collectors out there this is the perfect item to add to your collection, a great base for a custom project or just a fantastic tourer to be enjoyed as is this summer. Whilst in theory, yes it starts and it goes into gear, it hasn’t turned a wheel on the road in over a decade so I would strongly recommend that you use a van/trailer to get it home.
