1980 Yamaha XS1100SG Special Unregistered US Import Barn Find Stunning Classic Manufacturer: Yamaha Model: XS1100SG Special Year: 1980 Engine No: 3J6-007499 Frame No: 3J6-007499 Colour: Black Mileage: 16269 Capacity: 1101cc Starting at: £999.99 Stock No: 88932 This very VERY clean and soon to be Tax & MOT exempt 1980 Yamaha XS1100SG has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 16269 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its original factory finish. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........As you can see this bike is complete & remarkably original but for the exhausts & sissy bar. It has stood a while so the battery is flat, master cylinders aren't working & carburettors are stuck. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.........This is the actual bike you are bidding on – Not library pictures from 40 years ago & it is every bit as nice as it looks here.....A true time warp machine!. The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy, good looking discs, calipers & master cylinders. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome & clean alloy. Mudguards are both solid & are tidy. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look great. Paintwork is solid, fuel tank is squeaky clean inside and has nice original paint. Exhausts are non-original but solid. Seat is in very good condition throughout. Indicators are tidy but rear r/h body has some marks on it. Shock absorbers are damping fine. The engine is cosmetically very clean - We have had it firing/running on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention. We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of Title but we will provide proof that VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.(This can take upto 4 weeks) Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles over 40 years old are MOT exempt) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. Phone Yamaha UK customer services on 01932 358000 with the Model, frame & engine Numbers for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
