I bought this bike as a renovation project a while ago but as I am going through a ‘clear the clutter’ phase it occurs to me that I am probably never going to finish it, so it is time for it to go. The main photo shows the bike as I bought it but I have since dismantled the engine. The reason why it was taken off the road (probably decades ago) was evidently that someone over-tightened a spark plug and stripped the thread. Then the thread was repaired but they did it again(!) and the cylinder head was damaged. I bought a replacement head -which is why you see two in the photos … and that is as far as I have got with it. The engine internals seem OK (it has only covered 13000 miles), and I have even bought a gasket set so I would not expect any problems in getting it working again -but I don’t have the time. There are some missing parts: headlamp, side panels, handlebar switches, front mudguard, ignition lock and exhaust system come to mind. The headlamp brackets are very bent and the seat is a little worse-for-wear and the steel base OK apart from a crack which can be easily welded. The chrome parts are pretty good and I have polished a few bits to demonstrate that it will respond quite well to this. The engine casings are in good condition but the replacement head will need a bit of cosmetic renovation. Someone had fitted ape-hanger bars for some reason, but I have put on a temporary replacement just to move the bike around. Message me if you would like a photo of a specific part or area. Everything you see in the main photo is still present apart from the headlamp which I used for another project. The bike is not registered in the UK as it was imported from Indiana, USA. However, it comes complete with the title document and NOVA certificate, so it is easy enough to apply to DVLA for an age-related UK registration number when it is complete.
