Description
I have my CBX550 for sale - owned for 19 years and restored from its sorry original state.. see last photo. Many new items have been bought for this over the years, many of them from autojumbles. (Back then, on-one was interested in the CBX550, so there was a lot of parts available).New items include: Carbs, back & front wheels, clock surrounds, tail fairing, mirrors, fork stanchions, seals and bearings, front mudguard, cables. Service items such as brake pads, pistons and seals, master cylinder seals, new battery, oil & filter have been replaced recently.I managed to get an exhaust with rotten silencers, these were cut off spigots welded into the ends and new Sito silencers fitted to look like original. The frame is powder coated along with the brake plates, tank was painted and new graphics lacquered in. Stainless steel nuts and bolts fitted, spindles etc have been nickel plated.I have fitted a CB1 rear shock absorber, as I didnt like the orignal (air) spring. The original can be put back on quite easily should you choose. The bike has been stored for a lot of years but started regularly, riden up my drive (short). The bike runs but needs a tune before putting on the road.Tyres have good tread, but old. These should be replaced to be safe. There is a small oil leak on the front fork anti-dive unit pivot, if left it will contaminate the brakes. The starter solenoid has been replaced due to it engaging the starter motor when the ignition is switched off. This would continue unless you disconnected battery. the new solenoid has not resolved the matter, but could be a dirty connection somewhere. There is the original engine, some spares, workshop and owners handbook with this sale. The engine has some crankcase damage (I think it threw a chain before I bought it) it also has a helicoil fitted in a sparkplug hole. This was a good engine and ran without issues (still turns over) but it wasn't good enough for the rebuild so I bought another. The V5 logbook is present and in my name, no MOT. (only 3 more years and its MOT & tax exempt). The bike requires a van or trailer for pick up from the Halifax HX3 area, West Yorkshire. This was my first bike back after quite a few years away from biking, lovingly rebuilt and cared for. Genuine bike that needs someone to take over, sort the minor problems and enjoy.
