1971 Yamaha R5 350 Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project Manufacturer: Yamaha Model: R5 350 Twin Year: 1971 Engine No: R5-032260 Frame No: R5-032260 Colour: Orange Mileage: 8052 Capacity: 347cc Starting at: £999.99 Stock No: 90007 This very rare and much sought after Tax & MOT exempt 1971 Yamaha YR5 350 Twin has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 8052 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here! PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike appears to be complete however the paintwork is faded with a few marks, tyres are perished and sadly there are a few dents in the front mudguard. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS......... The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy, good hubs and working brakes. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome. The tail light assy is good as are the headlight and bowl. Instruments and switches look ok. The carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. The paintwork is slightly faded but solid, fuel tank is squeaky clean inside. The seat base is in good condition throughout. The indicators are tidy. The chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are solid. The standard exhausts are solid. The engine is cosmetically clean. We have had it firing/running & revving on it's own fuel. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated. BUT, for bikes over 40 years old, if you want us to do it all for you - Inc a number plate, we charge just £100 to cover our admin costs. THIS VEHICLE COMES WITH THE US CERTIFICATE OF TITLE AND WE WILL PROVIDE PROOF THAT THE VAT & DUTY IS PAID ON THE NOVA SYSTEM.(This can take upto 4 weeks). Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles under 40 years old only) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. The American Title is a recognised document for this purpose. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
