Description
This WIDELINE featherbed framed bike has lived in boxes in the loft for decades. It was run as a cafe racer years ago and was took apart many years ago for a makeover and to have the fibre glass petrol tank, oil tank and mudguards replaced with alloy items which you can see have been obtained.Other projects took over and it never got finished and in the garage loft it remained until a few days ago. It has a rare DUNSTALL twin disc front end and BORRANI alloy rims. Look at the website of Unity Equipe catalogue, alloy petrol tanks at £850 and alloy oil tanks at £400!You can see aged Unity Equipe transfers on the frame headstock, tail piece and the oil tank. Study the pictures to see what is there. Should be mainly all there but obviously not guaranteed. Forks will need sorting and there are no exhausts. It is on a V5 and there is nothing in the notes section to say the number is non transferable. Engine and frame numbers match V5.V5 states first registered on a V5 in 1983 declared manufactured 1961. I don't have the old buff or green log books.V5 still active on DVLA website, I've just checked, check it out for yourself. I am not sure what model it left the factory as because it has been built into a cafe racer with various Norton and other manufacturers non standard parts and the engine and frame numbers don't match so it has had a different engine fitted at some stage but does that really matter on a special! I am no expert but i have just looked up the numbers on the internet. The frame number starts with an R which indicates 1960 so this fits with the bike being first registered in 1961, probably manufactured late 1960 and sold and registered early 1961? The engine number starts 18/SS and ends in an R. So 18 means a 650 twin motor. If I am right in thinking, the R at the end coupled with the actual number sequence seems to indicate the engine is from 1964. This is just the project to keep someone busy over the winter and a well worth while project at that. Come and view with pleasure but I am going to let the auction run to give everyone a fair go at it and let it obtain it's market value. I am sure it would make more money breaking it and this remains an option if it doesn't sell but I would much rather see it rebuilt by an enthusiast. No timewasters please, I'm too grumpy to tolerate them! Buy with confidence, I have been in business here since 1989.Due to business reorganisation because of Covid this is my second account (smokeandnoisemotors) dedicated to selling complete vehicles. For confidence you can view my other account, (smokeandnoisegarage) which is now used for small postable item sales and has nearly 700 positive feedback.
