For auction here is a Norton cafe racer. This has a current V5C and is on its original number which is transferrable. The bike is classed as historic so will be tax and MOT exempt at this age. Interestingly it has it as matching numbers but reflects the size of the engine at 824cc. So what this actually is, is a 1965 Norton slimline dominator, but with much later 850cc Norton Commando engine and front end fitted and made into a really cool café racer. This is old school stuff as it has been stood for 30 years in the last owners house. It has electronic ignition fitted and twin Amal concentric carbs. The bike starts within a couple of kicks and sounds awesome. Very good oil return, no undue noise from the engine, ticks over OK, revs up fine and is not smoking etc. All the lights work and it is showing charge at the ammeter. This is basically good to go. It has a quick release seat and tank, original Norton commando clocks, disc front end etc etc. The alloy would all polish back up easily and look superb. The rims are original and still pretty good. It has the period Amal alloy levers. This is proper old school, hard as nails cafe racer stuff with everything working as it should and I can't find any modern repro stuff on it. I have no idea how good it runs as I have not taken it out. It has pretty good compression, so I don't know if it's all standard inside or tuned or what, but this looks the part and sounds the part. The logbook only shows a very low number of owners, the last two both in Sheffield, so fairly local to me. Viewing is welcome 07718 593259.
