1977 Honda GL1000 Goldwing Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Manufacturer: Honda Model: GL1000 Goldwing Year: 1977 Engine No: GL1E-3000407 Frame No: GL1-3000397 Colour: Black Mileage: 11042 Capacity: 999 Starting at: £999.99 Stock No: 88796 This well respected Tax & MOT exempt 1977 Honda GL1000 Goldwing has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 11042 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – L/h side panel & rear indicators being the most obvious. It has stood a while so the battery is flat, lacquer is lifting on the paintwork, tyres & seat cover are perished & rear master cylinder isn't working. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.........This is the actual bike you are bidding on – Not library pictures from 43 years ago & it is every bit as nice as it looks here.....A true time warp machine!. The best news is that underneath the hideous fairing the standard chrome head light & hangers are there!!! Also the period Samsonite boxes & rack will all just unbolt leaving a lovely “Plain Jane” Wing. The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy rims, good discs, calipers & working front master cylinder. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome & clean alloy. Mudguards are both solid & are very tidy. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers (hidden). Instruments & switches look great. Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. Paintwork is solid. Exhausts are original & feel solid. Seat base is in very good condition throughout. The engine is cosmetically clean - We have had it firing/running on easystart spray but the points, fuel system & carbs will need attention. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated. BUT, for bikes over 40 years old, if you want us to do it all for you - Inc a number plate, we charge just £100 to cover our admin costs. THIS VEHICLE COMES WITH THE US CERTIFICATE OF TITLE AND WE WILL PROVIDE PROOF THAT THE VAT & DUTY IS PAID ON THE NOVA SYSTEM.(This can take upto 4 weeks). Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles under 40 years old only) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. The American Title is a recognised document for this purpose. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
