Description

Welcome to the auction of probably one of the nicest 1960 AJS Model 31's around. A delight to ride, 245 KKO was registered on the 5th May 1960 and is the first of the Duplex Frame models. She is finished in a superb blue over light grey and a perfect black frame. She's only had two previous owners from new. The first owner for 35 years, the second for 24 years and myself for 2 years. The recorded mileage of 58792 is probably correct, but I can't guarantee it. KKO is the Model 31 Standard which is the alternator engine. She fires up first or second kick and settles down to an even tickover. there are no rattles of bangs and the clutch and gearbox work perfectly. The only defects are slightly worn and pitted chrome on the wheels, slightly pitted chrome on the top of the silencers and a drippy oil leak from the crankcase drain plug which is an irritation more than anything. Other than that, she's ready to ride, show and enjoy for the coming summer. Be prepared to spend a lot of time chatting to admirers, she draws a lot of attention wherever she goes! The number plate, according to the V5c has no restrictions and will be transferable. There is an old V5 registration document showing the first and previous owner and a number of old tax discs going back to 1981. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description. I'm starting the bidding at a modest £500 on a No Reserve basis. In fairness to all watchers and bidders, the auction will run 'til the end and I will not enter into any buy it now negotiations. Please bear in mind collection is from Prestwick, Scotland. Cash or bank transfer only please no paypal. Will the winning bidder contact me please within 24 hours from the end of the auction and a £100 deposit will be required. I look forward to meeting her new owner soon. In the meantime should you have any questions, please contact me via ebay messaging Thanks for looking and happy bidding On 28-Mar-21 at 10:06:10 BST, seller added the following information: Thank you all for your bids and interest. I want to mention, as I'm very irritated, that a gentleman has twice bid strongly for my AJS, then on both occasions, has retracted his bids with an explanation of "entered the wrong amount" Once, I can understand - but twice? I want to make it clear to everyone bidding, that both his bids have been placed then retracted for reasons only known to himself, and in no way reflect that there's an issue with either me or my AJS! Best regards. Malcolm.
