Description

For sale is my 1990 Honda VFR750 RC36 unfinished Cafe Racer project. It is a 1990 RC36 model with 55500 miles on the clock. Comes with a V5 and the reg is G60 ALP. I no longer have the time to finish this project and now need the space so can't hang on to it anymore. I bought this bike in 2019 as a rolling chassis with most of the parts in boxes. When I bought it, I was told it had been sat for approximately 10 years, I believe this to be true judging from the state of the fuel and the MOT history. After a fuel flush and an engine oil change combined with a partial re-assembly the bike ran well enough for me to start the project of turning it into a cafe racer. It has a custom rear subframe with integrated tail light, brake light and indicators all of which are wired and working correctly. It has a coil on plug conversion with used coils from a CBR600RR I believe, the correct harness plugs are included but are not wired in yet, the wires currently have spade connectors fitted as I hadn't yet decided on cable routing. The battery is re-located inside the frame behind the headstock. This makes space for the radiator and fan quite tight but my plan was to shrink the radiator and fit a slim fan. The wiring loom has been heavily modified to relocate the battery and other components - light relays were deleted due to all LED lighting and space and several wires have been shortened/extended to reach new component locations. The engine has had an oil and filter change but is misfiring on one cylinder, it's not the coil as I swapped two around to test so I suspect it needs a carb clean. At the bottom of this description is a link to copy and paste which will take you to a google photos album which shows the current condition of the bike and a video of it running today. Things it will need to get rideable: 1. Fuel tank plumbing in (I was going to go gravity fed but there is space for the fuel pump and it is included and was working before project started - it will need a custom bracket fabricated to fit the pump under the tank above the rear cylinders) 2. Battery leads will need to be checked for clearance of other parts with the tank fitted and possibly the positive lead connector will need to be changed. I've included a new YTX12B battery to go with the bike which fits but I was going to replace this for a shorter one to give a bit more room. 3. Tyres should probably be changed due to age. 4. A seat. The seat base is complete and bolts to the subframe underneath, foam is there but needs further shaping and gluing to the base and there is also more than enough black vinyl to cover the seat once ready. Things I know it will need for an MOT: 1. Front indicators are not working. I must have made an error when wiring them in, upon testing everything today only the rear indicators work. 2. radiator mounting needs adjusting as currently the fork legs touch the mounts at full lock. Included with the bike is a new air filter, new brake pads front and rear and the newish healthy battery - I've kept it healthy with my optimate 4 as though it's another bike in my garage. https://photos.app.goo.gl/rGywR9oYLo7DUapJA That's pretty much all I can say about this, please study the photos and video at the link above (copy and paste) and if you have questions please ask and I'll answer honestly as I don't want come-back on this, I just need it out of the way now. You are bidding to buy and the auction will run to the end with no reserve and I ask that you contact me to arrange collection of the bike and parts within 24 hours. You will need a trailer or van this bike cannot be ridden. Bike is located in Banbury, a short distance from junction 11 of the M40. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! On 25-May-21 at 16:03:49 BST, seller added the following information: Further things this will need which I forgot to mention: 1. The regulator rectifier needs a spot to live and wiring in - one is included but I wouldn't count on it working as it's not an original Honda unit and appears to be a cheap unbranded one. 2. The instrument cluster came with a magnetic speedometer sensor which is not fitted but is wired up ready with a plug so once fitted and cable routed will just plug into the cluster. 3. The coolant system is filled with plain tap water no antifreeze (only since yesterday when I started it up)
