Hello and welcome to my auction for my 1980 Harley Davidson Ironhead Sportster Old Skool 70s Style Chopper. The bike is a one off custom that was commissioned by the previous owner who owned the bike for 25 years and had it built into what you see now from a standard XLS Sportster which he purchased in 1995. All new parts were used including a motor rebuild back in 2005. The work was carried out by "American Motorcycle Works" The motor is tight and still runs strong and has only covered less than 4000 miles since the build. The bike has been a toy, used for short summer runs, more of a garage queen than anything in all that time. The gearbox was rebuilt by "Yankee V Twin", the generator was also cleaned and refurbished. The whole thing has cost well over £7000 not including the cost of the bike in its standard form originally. I have owned the bike since September last year. I will list some of the major parts for you. *Powder coated Black*Custom hardtail frame*ZEL wide glide triple trees*6" over stock front forks*Harley roadking bars*Custom 5" risers *Bates style headlight*Cats eye tail light*Wheels re laced to alloy rims 21 front 16 rear*Harrison Billet callipers front and rear*Sportster tank, flames *King and Queen seat*Custom oil tank*6" Harley flat fender*Sissy bar*Dyna S*Custom stainless drag pipes*Side mounted plate*Westco Battery a £150 battery.*Rear passenger pegs*Horn*speedo*Teardrop air filter cover (S&S style). All receipts available The bike has been MOTd every year and has just qualified to become exempt back in December last year. All MOT certificates present. V5 present and in my name. I have just had a fresh service and check over carried out on the bike by Harley Davidson specialists "Heavy Duty Motorcycles" in Mansfield, the Engine Oil has been changed using Belray oil and a new K&N oil filter fitted. A new UNI air filter fitted. The carburettor has been stripped and cleaned. Battery secured, chain tightened, Front tyre inflated. I also asked for a complete check over of the bike and the points that have been raised to me are: *MOT which expired in January, it now qualifies to be exempt as its 40 years old stated the only advisory was "Slight misting of oil on left front shock absorber". This will need attention as it is now leaking. *Sidewall on rear tyre perished due to sitting, this will need replacing. *Chain worn *No split pin hole in rear axle *Gearbox oil topped up with Belray oil, however the drain plug was unable to be opened due to close proximity with frame. (See pic) *Clutch dragging, this will be due to lack of use, sitting but like I previously stated the gearbox was rebuilt. I have the invoice that Heavy Duty gave to me regarding these points. Its certainly not a bike for the shy and faint hearted. Its loud and the vibration should trigger a earthquake alert but it will certainly make a impression wherever you go. Like all older Harleys they require a lot of love and are maintenance whores so if you don't enjoy tinkering then this isn't the bike for you. I'm really sad to have to let it go as I always wanted a old Harley chopper since watching Easy Rider in my early teens but now I've been there and done it, I want something less maintenance heavy. I hope it brings the same joy it has to me and puts a smile on someone's face because in the end there truly isn't anything like a old Harley.
