Description

1948 BSA C11 project with old green log book. The bike is scruffy but complete and running. I have put on a few new bits to get it running like the ignition switch, horn, battery etc etc. Most of the stuff is original though and it is on its original 20 inch wheels and rims. Tin ware is all original. It has a Smiths 80 clock in it, but on closer inspection its actually a rev counter ! The bike starts and runs. here is a short video of it doing just that... https://youtu.be/QDcdHXEAmTg The charging is intermittent, basically you have to flick the regulator box for it to kick in, so that needs either adjusting or replacing, but it is charging quite strongly as you can see in the video. All the lights and the horn works. It does ride around but the clutch was dragging heavily. I am selling this as a project, but it is up and running with good oil return and the engine sounds OK. Because it has an old log book there is a chance of perhaps reclaiming that old number back for it, but in any event the old log book helps with the dating and re registration process anyway. The top of the tank has a big dent. I don't know if that would pull out, or if you would simply paint over it. The tank it's self is very solid and not leaking with half decent chrome. It has original saddles fitted. The exhaust system was not fitted when I got the bike and looks to be relatively new, but looks to have been bought for it some time ago. It's a great project because it's all there and it is running which means that most of what needs spending here is time and attention rather than dollars after you have bought it. It does need tidying up, clutch adjusting, regulator box adjusting, it drops oil so perhaps a bit of re-gasketing etc etc. It's a project but a very viable one. These early post war BSA Clls are very attractive being rigid with teles and speedo in the tank. They are low and light and reliable and easy to use. Great little machines, lots of fun and they look great. There is no reserve on this auction. Viewing is welcome. 07718 593259.
