Description

First registered in 1971, I bought this second hand in 1976 (I have the V5) and used it a little until about 1981. I replaced the previous speedo / mile-ometer as the needle was unsteady. From recollection, it had about 17,000 miles on the old clock and I put a further 9100 on the new clock. I replaced the bearings in the engine, save for the big end. Converted to 12V electrics and added indicators. Swinging arm bushes were replaced. Left mirror missing and lens of left rear indicator missing. I have not ridden it since then. Started it once, about 10 years ago. It has been garaged. Battery is dead. Seat strap is broken. Silencer is shot and must be replaced. The kickstarter needs attention - the bush at the end of the stub axle was damaged and a piece of the casing holding that bush lost, but that should not cause a problem with replacement and a bit ali welding on the bush housing. 2 teeth also missing from kickstarter quadrant but I have a spare which I have not tried to put in. Some of the chrome has some rust - see photos. It will need a little work to get it going and back on the road. Engine number 04983. Last MOT certificate I have is December 1978. As the pictures show (washed down with water to show how it might look if cleaned & polished) it's not entirely in original Sebring spec but it's a handsome machine. It's handling was always razor sharp and a lot of fun!
