1978 Honda CB550K3 Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project Manufacturer: Honda Model: CB550K3 Year: 1978 Engine No: CB550E-1049304 Frame No: CB550K-101434 Colour: Red Mileage: 35388 Capacity: 544cc Starting at: £1499.99 Stock No: 91371 This rare old, tax & MOT exempt 1978 Honda CB550K3 FOUR has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike has parts missing, ignition switch, seat lock, throttle cables, airbox lid & rear brake pedal being obvious. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS......... The wheels are straight with nice clean chrome rims, a good disc, and caliper, but the brakes don't work. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome. The tail light assy is good as are the headlight and bowl. The clocks look okay but the faces are crazed. The switches look okay and everything that should move does so. The paintwork is faded with a few rust patches. The fuel tank is grotty inside. The seat base is in good condition throughout. One indicator is tidy. The chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are solid, but tre front has been cut down. The standard exhaust looks okay externally but the silencers seem empty. The engine is cosmetically clean, and cranks over nicely off the kick start. We have had it firing/running & revving on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated. We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of Title but we will provide proof that VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.(This can take upto 4 weeks) Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles over 40 years old are MOT exempt) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. To get a recognised dating letter apply in writing to Honda Motorcycle Operations at the following address. Year of Manufacture, Honda (UK),Cain Road, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 1HLThe following information for the bike should quoted, Model, VIN, Engine number. Additionally you should include your contact details (telephone number and email). There is administration fee of £30 (25 + VAT) which can be paid by cheque or postal order payable to Honda (UK). If information needs to be acquired from Japan the the "Proof of year of manufacture" letter can take upto 6 weeks to arrive. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number. Spares you may need Our used spares dept may carry items you need for this project. Any parts available will be offered for sale on eBay.
