Description

I have a bucket list of bikes, it's a long list, high up that list was an RU EXUP and it had to be a red/white/blue one. I had FZRs when I was younger, starting with a 250, then a 400 and a 750, I could never afford or insure a 1000 so it remained a dream. Until I bought this one a couple of years ago, it was late model 92, low mileage 15k, mostly original, a bit scruffy but all there. Once I got it home it was stripped to the frame, every component was cleaned, checked and restored as required. New bearings were fitted, the brakes stripped, new seals fitted and rebuilt with new pads.Red wheels were stripped and restored back to white with a 2K paint The exup was knackered, the downpipes rusty and the collector just rust, a better set of pipes were bought, polished, the exup re-bushed and then the collector refinished in VHT paint. The crusty engine had the clearances checked before being repainted, fresh oil and filter. The K&N filter element was cleaned and refitted New 530 o ring chain and sprockets fitted. Forks rebuilt with new seals and fresh oil. Every single bolt was stripped and replated in the correct zinc finish, except the brake rotor bolts which were replaced with titanium versions. The original bodywork with original datatag marks was cleaned and polished, it still has patina of age but looks in very good condition Carbs stripped, cleaned, rebuilt and balanced. A new rear tyre fitted, front was like new when I bought it. Basically the whole bike has been totally sorted. It sailed through MOT and has only done about 100 miles since if that, it lives under a dust sheet, I enjoy the ownership and restoration process more than actually riding the bikes nowadays. It gets periodically started, does a few runs up and down our private road and then gets tucked away in the garage again. Only 15000 miles from new So a great bike and potential investment, the value of these is only going one way. Bad points... there's very few, but I like to be honest and 100% Crack in the front mudguard - shown in photoSlight discolouration on the frame - hard to see in photosBracket missing on single seat converterTiny hole on front edge of seatTwo identical keys which fit all locks, fuel cap is a little fiddly to unlockLed fitted in tailpiece for long gone alarmSmall chip in paint on tankYoshi can is not original - but nice and not anti socialBlack bubble screen is not original - I didn't hate it enough to replace itSlight fading on fairing side panel edges - shown in photosCarbon front mudguard may not be original Everything works as it should, it doesn't seem to burn oil, the exup works and doesn't rattle. If you are looking for a late FZR, the best one in my opinion, you'd be hard pressed to find one as clean as original as this one. I have every confidence it will sail through MOT, but if this is important to you, I can get it put through, but it may take a few weeks due to Covid issues. If you want to collect in a few weeks or months when everything has died down, that is ok, providing I get a deposit. Delivery is also possible at additional cost. So there we go, a cracking FZR in the right colour, only selling because my bucket list is a long one and it's time to move on. Thanks for reading this far, go on have a bid!
