1981 Yamaha XS650 Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project Manufacturer: Yamaha Model: XS650 Special Year: 1981 Engine No: 3G0-003519 Frame No: 4M4-003071 Colour: Black Mileage: 13490 Capacity: 653cc Starting at: £1199.99 Stock No: 88750 This Custom Styled 1981 Yamaha XS650 imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike has a few parts missing, sidepanels, airbox components, clutch lever assembly, front indicators and key are noteable. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS......... The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy, a good disc, caliper but the brakes don't work. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome. The tail light assy is good but is loose. The headlight is tidy. The clocks look okay, but aren't quite straight. The switche bodies look okay, but there bits missing. The paintwork is faded, the fuel tank is grotty inside. The seat base is in solid condition but has been pulled about. The chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are solid, but the front has taken a small knock. The standard exhaust is solid, but has bee knocked. The engine is cosmetically clean, and cranks over nicely off the kick start. We have had it firing/running & revving on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention. If you are ready for a new project and have been looking for a classic XS650 to restore then look no further – THIS ONE COULD BE YOURS!!! We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of Title but we will provide proof that VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.(This can take upto 4 weeks) Registration. You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles over 40 years old are MOT exempt) You need proof of year of manufacture in writing. Phone Yamaha UK customer services on 01932 358000 with the Model, frame & engine Numbers for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number. Spares you may need Our used spares dept may carry items you need for this project, give them a call on 01782 862200, if parts are available they will be happy to list them on EBay so you can purchase.
