Description
This 1981 CR 450 RB has been in my ownership for 13 years. I did a minor renovation on the bike 12 years ago. I stripped the bike to the frame had it powder coated (unfortunately some of the original head stock ID plate has been blasted and is not fitted but I have it. I believe these can be bought as copies) Clutch cover, rear brake bar, front chain guard all powder coated. Front forks re built by a shop, new seals, oil, fork gators, new tyres and tubes. New un painted exhaust 'works style' from Holland. New air filter, brake shoes (front brake isn't very efficient, so needs looking at) New clutch plates, springs and good condition second hand clutch basket sourced from US. New handlebars (Renthal), grips, seat cover but original worn seat cover still on underneath. All new good quality plastics (not tank) from US. I removed the barrel and head. It looked a good piston and bore so just reassembled. Carb cleaned (can't remember if carb kit bought). Barrel and head resprayed. New gaskets. I have only cleaned the rear shock. Not serviced. Shock linkage disassembled cleaned and re greased. I have had it started a few times and it sounds amazing. (50hp) It has a left hand kickstarter, which takes some getting used to. 4 speed, Pro link. First Honda production 'open class' bike I believe. Graham Noyce inspired ? It has been an ornament for me and a talking point, what else would you keep in the conservatory ? If it is to be raced, which I hope, then it will need recommissioning and the rear original shock checking etc.I have spent quite a bit of time and money on it over the years and have enjoyed the ownership. It looks great, lovely proportions and I can't believe it's nearly 40 years old ! This bike could be brought to a new level or simply used. This model is now eligible for some of the EVO racing I believe. I thought about it but at 56 it probably wont end well and I need a new hip anyway from when I raced as a 'schoolboy scrambler' :-)So a genuine auction for a genuine bike. Collection from Dymchurch in Kent. 5 miles from Channel tunnel. Buyer to collect. I have good feed back and you can buy with confidence. Not too many of these about so good luck to the new custodian.I will up date, during the auction, anything else I remember.
