1980 Yamaha XS250 UK Spec UK registered restoration project Manufacturer: Yamaha Model: XS250 Year: 1980 Engine No: 4G6-005131 Frame No: 4G6-000687 Colour: Black Mileage: 28302 Capacity: 248cc Starting at: £99.99 Stock No: 78328 This interesting XS250SP was traded into us here a while ago. We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike is pretty much complete, but it has been extensively modifoed but most of the modifications could be reversed is desired. It has stood a while and the battery is completely flat. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS......... The wheels are straight and look to have been pasinted with hammerite, there are a good discs, caliper and working brakes, but the front sticks a bit. The forks and yokes look straight. The tail light assy is good as are the headlight and little screen. The clocks looks oaky and seem to work. The switches look ok and everything seems to work. The carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. The paintwork is actually quite bright, fuel tank is clean inside. The non standard seat looks to be in good condition throughout, and is securely fastened. The indicators are tidy. The chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are solid though neither were fitted by mr Yamaha. The Motad exhaust is solid. The engine is cosmetically clean, and feel good when cranked over with the kick start. We have attached a boost battery put a bit of fresh fuel in the tank, and had it firing/running & revving but the fuel system & carbs will need attention, it only runs on one cylinder unlass you rev it. We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of Title but we will provide proof that VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.(This can take upto 4 weeks) You need to get the bike MOTed. (Vehicles over 40 years old are MOT exempt) You need proof of the year of manufacture in writing. Owners clubs and associations can help with this. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number. Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration plus the current amount for the road tax. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
