Description
This is my Batavus GoGo 48cc, two stroke twist and go moped, made in Holland, which has quite an unusual history. It was bought new from a dealer in Slough, Berkshire by a gentleman for his daughter to use, they took it to their holiday home in Italy where it was used for one month covering a total of 240 miles. It was then brought back to the UK where it has been in storage ever since. I bought it from the original owner who is now 85 years old, thinking it might be a bit of fun to spend a bit of time to get it running again, but after adding some fuel and two stroke oil to the tank it started up straight away and runs absolutely beautifully. As you can see by the pictures it is still in superb condition for a 45 year old with it's violet paintwork (official colour!) polishing up very well.Engine and frame have matching numbers. The chrome is very presentable if not perfect. Seat and tyres are obviously very good. All the lights and horn work, the kill switch button is missing, but if you push anything like a key or pen into the aperture it will stop. The black plastic trims under the rear mudguards have slight damage, but very difficult to notice. The black plastic Batavus clutch cover also has a crack and has been taped. All these bits would be simple to replace if you wanted, just wanted to mention the very few minus points. It also comes with a period perspex windscreen, not fitted. For road use it would need to be registered at DVLA, a dating certificate would be required, the excellent National Autocycle Club can help, I believe it costs £20 to non-members. Of course on registering, the bike would be MOT exempt and road tax would be free. I am pretty sure that a Nova certificate is not required as anything under 49cc is exempt and of course this has the wonderful Anker Laura 48cc motor as used in the BSA Ariel 3. It comes with a few manuals and a brochure dating from when it was first purchased as well as a riders manual, and a key for the steering lock. It's just a lovely original bike which needs a good home, can't be many about with such low mileage. I have a collection of little 50cc things, but my interest is mainly the 1980s, don't think it would get used very often.Only thing I can see to do is clean out the rear brake drum and it would be ready for the road.We are located near Wokingham, Berks,RG40. Viewing, questions most welcome if we follow current guidelines. Happy to let the auction run, so no buy it now price, let's start at 99p with no reserve, I'm sure it will find it's value on Ebay, I don't really know as they don't come up for sale very often.Message me if you need more photos of any specific aspect of the bike. Please, if you have less than 5 feedbacks make contact before bidding, or your bid will be removed, genuine Ebayers will understand this.Obviously collection only, thanks for looking, and good luck if you decide to have a bid.
