Description

Here is a genuine barn find - a 1969 125 cc CZ Kyvacka, type 473 Sport, which as can be seen, is a restoration project – the amount of restoration is up to the new owner. It is fairly complete and the worst of the rust is on the right side of the petrol tank, but even this doesn’t go too deep - and the tank is restorable. The rest of the bike - including the tinware - is solid. The engine runs, clutch works and the gears appear to engage. I had the engine running last Saturday (May 6th) by borrowing the coil and fuel tank from our other 125 CZ. I made a short video of it running and included a TV guide that was dated 30th May - 5th June 2020 in the footage - as proof of when it ran. If you have access to WhatsApp, I can send you the video. The mileage shown on the speedo is 11,156 - which I believe is genuine - the man that I bought it from said that it had stood in his barn for over 20 years. The main parts missing are; centre stand, footrests, seat (although there is a base), headlight, coil, brake levers, front and rear brake cables, twistgrip, battery, gearbox sprocket and rear chain. All of these items are readily available – mostly in the UK, but virtually anything for these bikes can be found at Jawashop.com I bought this bike to restore for my wife to ride. When I got it both tyres were cracked and flat. In order to be able to move it around I renovated the wheels. The chrome had gone, but the rims and spokes were solid - so they were stripped and sprayed with first, a zinc-rich primer, then Aluminium silver. They now look quite smart – the discolouration that can be seen on the front wheel in the pics is thick grease – and will wipe off. New tyre, tubes and rim tapes were fitted – and that was as far as I got. I got the chance to buy the same bike (same model, same year, with pretty much the same patina,) but all up and running – at a price that I couldn’t refuse. Hence, this one has to go. To sum up, it’s a runner, with all the hard to find bits present. If you’re not a purist, the wheels are very presentable – with brand new tyres. It would make for a fairly easy restoration and with these older-styled Jawa/CZs making good money of late, would be well worth doing. The fact that it is road tax and MoT exempt makes it a very cheap bike to run - the other 473 cost £4.61 to add to our classic bike insurance policy! I have a V5C in my name and there is a photocopy of the workshop manual to go with the bike. What you see in the pics is what you get. I think that the photos give a fair impression and I’ve tried to describe the bike as fairly as I can. Viewing before the end of the auction welcome – subject to social distancing – contact me on; 0790 1973587 to arrange - ditto for a copy of the video. If you wish to buy unseen I can recommend a good, careful and inexpensive courier. I am also prepared to liaise with any courier you choose. You can register with Shiply and couriers will give quotes – wait a bit before deciding though, the quotes get lower after a couple of days. Please note that this is an auction and if you bid, you are bidding to buy at that price - not to come and haggle. No buy it now offers please - the auction will run to the end. 99p start price and no reserve - happy bidding! On 11-Jun-20 at 12:33:37 BST, seller added the following information: I have been asked if I can deliver the bike. I am prepared to deliver the bike anywhere on the UK mainland for £1 per mile one way - that is, if you live 100 miles from me it will be £100. I think that this amount would be competitive up to about 120 miles - more than that and it would probably be cheaper with a courier. As I said, I am prepared to deliver anywhere, but subject to the following; The distance would be worked out on AA Route Planner - my postcode to yours. Both the bike and the delivery cost to be fully paid in advance. Any tolls or ferries would be extra at cost. The bike will be delivered to the nearest made up road to your house. On 11-Jun-20 at 17:21:28 BST, seller added the following information: I've had a call from an area representative of the Jawa/CZ Owners Club, telling me that this bike is a 453, not a 473 Sport. However, I sent the frame and engine numbers to the Club and was told by both the Club Secretary and the Archive & Machine Dating Officer that it is a 473 Sport. The frame number is; 453.10.93070, and the engine number is; 473.05.01936. Back your own judgement.
