Description
I am not really sure where to start with this. The good news I suppose: 1963 Triumph 3TA. V5 present. Nothing to suggest it is not a transferable reg. The old book is also present as well as some old MOTs.The bike starts and runs, ticks over, returns oil fine and sounds good. The engine revs OK and sounds serviceable. Also as good news, the frame has not been messed about with at all. So it is a running bike that sounds basically OK. The not so good news. none matching numbers. Most of the lights don't work... but the tail light and horn do... and the rest of the so called custom work is, well.... not so great. Someone has clearly watched the 1969 film Easy Rider and this poor old Triumph must have been in the way when they thought they would have a lash. It has some sort of Japanese front end on with extended forks, twin headlights, mixed electrics and various artwork. This is a testament to how not to customize a bike in my view. It has not been on the road for at least 25 years, and might have had all this nasty torture inflicted on it maybe 25 years before that. Certainly, this is the sort of treatment bikes were enduring in the early 1970s. This has already been nicknamed, "the shed of death" by one visitor to my place this afternoon, and I guess it is the kind of bike you would buy if you wanted to ride around and frighten folk, especially purists or spoke counters. Really, you could grow long hair a big mustache put on a tassily jacket and ride around pretending that you had just traveled through a time wormhole from the early 1970s by accident and be fairly convincing with this. Now the old log books show that this has lived around Nottingham and Beeston all of its life and I have all of the names of previous owners.... who I fully expect to bid quite strongly on this, otherwise I shall release their names .... one a day... to the public... as one of them is guilty of this crime against an historic motorcycle. One of them has tortured this poor machine and is guilty of cruelty by way of so called customization. Alright, it might have been many years ago, possibly when they were a lot younger, but they need to be stopped, and many modern enthusiasts might see fit to hunt them down and ridicule them for their past miss deeds. So, if you are a previous owner, I suggest you buy the evidence back. We can put this down to being young and too many magic fags if you like. But the names will be released... one a day... if I don't see the bids going up.... If you are looking for a project, then all this really needs is a standard front end putting back on to make it more normal again. Cosmetically... it is challenged. It is registered though and it does run, so most of the risk is gone. I am going to sell this without reserve and hope it will go to a caring new home where it can be nursed back to health. Viewing is welcome... but no ambulance chasers please...no press.... no ghouls.... show some respect.... and no tyre kickers either. Collection is preferred, or I can arrange delivery within the UK by courier. The van will be unmarked and they will try to deliver quickly, possibly with the bike covered over... or maybe even at night, so the bike can be hidden in your shed quickly before too many people see it. No Paypal or credit cards.
